Pretty Inspiration

The other day I was sitting in Barnes and Noble, sipping a little americano and enjoying the wintery day with my husband.  I decided to browse the magazines and came across this amazing bit of reading.

"Artful Blogging" is a quarterly magazine featuring a variety of inspiring bloggers.  Photos are by bloggers, articles are by bloggers, etc.

And just look at these photos!  I simply wanted to sigh and then breathe in all the beauty.  I'm so inspired by bloggers that can produce such gorgeous work for others to enjoy.

Many bloggers offer advice on how to blog, take your own beautiful pictures and staying true to your individuality in a sea of so many other online journals.

I hope you're able to pick up this little jewel somewhere, because it sure is worth it.

Those birds will get you

Yesterday, my husband took me out for a surprise adventure day.  We took a walk, fed the ducks and geese by river, saw a movie, etc.  It was such a fun day.

Those bird were getting really friendly....  One of the geese demanded food directly in front of him.  If it was anywhere else, he simply wouldn't try to get it.  I'm sure he would have taken the bread out of my hand if I hadn't fed them so quickly.

While in the middle of our day, when I was about to have a complete meltdown from not hearing when we get to leave for Hawaii, he got the call.  This week we're off the mainland!

I'm completely terrified, to be perfectly honest.  Islands are nice for vacation, but I don't know what it will be like to live there.  And fitting in might be difficult, finding friends is always hard...  It's just a scary transition time.

Does anyone have any advice?

For all those fabric scraps...

Because I love finding beautiful fabric to use for many of the various projects I end up doing, I also end up with a lot of little bits.  Those odds and ends are difficult to find good uses for but if you're anything like me, you won't throw any of them away.

On the hunt for something to use those pretty pieces for, I found this gorgeous bit of inspiration!  Anj at Snowy Bliss offers a tutorial on how to make long stemmed fabric roses, complete with several gorgeous photos to gawk at. 

Finally, something to do with all those extras. I can't wait to get settled from our move so I can make some!

Getting closer..

After packing up our entire home (and selling most of our furniture), we are out of town and spending time with family before heading to Hawaii.

It's been a time of stepping back and relaxing after the incredibly insane months since last August.  Now that we're packed up there isn't much to do until we get on that plane.  I've been reading (my husband got me a kindle for my birthday!), exercising, and pretty much just enjoying myself.  It's been amazing how much I can focus on the simple things now.  Once we left, I found myself able to sleep better at night.

Stress and I don't get along and I'm not always aware of how poorly I've felt until it's gone.  I'm so pleasantly surprised to see it leave.
